Raiders are coming off win over IUPUI

The Wright State men's basketball team will roll into Detroit Mercy Thursday night to take on the 2-0 Titans at 7:00 PM.  The game can be heard on Big 106.5 FM/iHeart App or seen on ESPN+.

Wright State
The Raiders, 7-8 and 1-1, dropped the Horizon League opener to UIC in overtime 75-72 before bouncing back to defeat IUPUI 72-64 Sunday afternoon.  Bill Wampler, coming off the bench for the first time, gave the Raiders a lift with 22 points while point guard Cole Gentry finished with 20 points, including 10-10 from the line.  Gentry also scored 24 points against UIC.  Loudon Love, slowed by an injury recently, and Mark Hughes each pitched in 10 points against the Jags.

Wampler sits atop the Raider scoring attack at 15.0 points per game as Gentry is close at 14.3.  Love averages 13.4.  The 6-9 center leads WSU in rebounding and third in the league at 8.6 per contest.
The Titans have dropped five in a row and 11 of their last 14 to Wright State as the Raiders now lead the all-time series, 31-26.   Detroit Mercy is 15-11 all-time at home, but the two teams have split the last eight meetings at Calihan Hall.

Detroit Mercy
The Titans, 5-9 and 2-0, won twice last week at Youngstown State 78-66 and at Cleveland State 73-61 to open their Horizon League schedule after dropping the final six non-conference games.  UDM won three straight in late November, including two Mid-American Conference teams in Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan.  Antoine Davis was named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week as he averaged 22.0 points, 4.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in the two wins.

Davis leads the Titans and the Horizon League at 25.4 points, connecting on 68 three pointers in 14 games.  Josh McFolley (12.4) and Harrison Curry (10.4) also average double figures for UDM.  Detroit Mercy is averaging just under 10 rebounds less than their opponents (43.1-33.3) while Chris Brandon leads them in rebounding at 4.7 per game.  UDM was tabbed to finish tenth in the pre-season Horizon League poll under first-year head coach Mike Davis.

Next Up
The Raiders will stay in the Detroit area to play at Oakland Saturday at 3:00 PM.  The Grizzlies, 6-9 and 2-0, will host Northern Kentucky Thursday night.
