The Wright State softball team took a doubleheader at a very cold Detroit Mercy Saturday afternoon, winning 9-0 and 5-1.

In game one, the long ball was the key for the Raiders as Honnah Susor, Macey Gunther, Kaitlyn Skinner and Madison Mills each homered for Wright State.  Gunther, Mills and Jordan Kennaw each finished with two hits and two RBI as Skinner also notched two runs batted in.  Lauren Deitrick added a single.

Ashley Sharp took the win in the circle as she threw five innings with four strikeouts.  Kennaw finished the final two innings, with one strikeout.

In game two, the homeruns continued as Madison Whitaker and Kennaw went yard.  Whitaker also picked up two singles with three RBI as Susor had two singles.  Mills doubled and singled.

Ally Russell got the win with six innings on one earned run, two hits and three strikeouts.  Sharp came on to pitch the seventh.

"Any time you can get a series win on the road against a team like Detroit Mercy, you are happy," WSU head coach Laura Matthews said.  "We played well-rounded  softball with tremendous pitching and defense.  It was nice that we got the bats going today after a couple of days when they were quiet."

The Raiders, 12-20 and 6-5, will play at Dayton Wednesday at 4:30 pm.
