@WSU_WSoccer Drops Tough Road Match Saturday

The Wright State women's soccer team put their Horizon League unbeaten record on the line once again on Saturday, when they traveled to Wisconsin to take on the Milwaukee Panthers. The Raiders fought back to try to even the match late, but fell short at the hands of the Panthers Saturday afternoon.

First Half
Not even five minutes into Saturday afternoon's match, the Raiders found themselves on the wrong side of a 1-0 deficit, after the Panthers' Haley Johnson scored off of a volley in the box. The Panthers controlled the majority of play in the first half but surrendered a penalty kick to the Raiders in the 31st minute. Livi Raflik took the penalty kick for the Raiders and buried her first goal of the season into the back of the net to level the match for the green and gold. Milwaukee would take a 10-6 shot advantage into the locker room, but the score would remain level at one.

Second Half
The Panthers continued to own the majority of possession as the second half progressed, and two early second half goals for Milwaukee put them in control of the match. The Raiders would not go down without a fight, as Destiny Johnson would bring the green and gold within one goal with her second of the season in the 83rd minute. This goal would be too little too late for the Raiders, as they would run out of time in the match, falling by a final score of 3-2.

Up Next
Wright State (3-6-2, 2-1-1 Horizon) will have six days off to prepare for its next match, as UIC will head to Alumni Field Saturday as a part of the Raiders' Homecoming. Saturday's match is scheduled for a 3:00 pm kick-off.
