
Raiders look to remain unbeaten in Horizon League play Saturday

The Wright State women's basketball team begins a three-game road swing on Saturday when they travel south to face the Northern Kentucky Norse. The Raiders will enter the BB&T Arena with a 12-4 record. Wright State and Youngstown State remain perfect in the Horizon League and are tied atop the standings at 4-0. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
Wright State
A balanced attack led the Raiders (12-4, 4-0) in their two wins over Green Bay and Milwaukee last week. Wright State had three players average double-figures in scoring. Mackenzie Taylor led the Raiders with 16.0 points per game followed by 13.0 from Michal Miller, and 10.0 from freshman Angel Baker. Two other Raiders (Symone Simmons and Tyler Frierson) ranked in the top-ten in rebounding for the week. The effort by Simmons and Frierson play a major part in the total rebounding performance of the Raiders this year. Wright State ranks fourth nationally in total rebounds, grabbing 692 this season. WSU is 20th nationally with 16 offensive rebounds per game. The Raiders are also 12th in the country in turnovers, committing just 12.8 per game.
On the season, Michal Miller is leading the team on offense with 13.0 points per game, Mackenzie Taylor is close behind with 12.3, and Angel Baker adds another 10.1 each outing.
Northern Kentucky
The Norse (3-11, 2-2) are coming off an 81-61 loss against the Green Bay Phoenix. In the loss, the Norse player Allie Niece tied for the game high with her 21 point performance. The freshman point guard put together a strong shooting performance going 6-11 from the field, including an astonishing 5-7 from three-point range. Freshman center Emmy Souder added another ten in the 20 point loss to the Phoenix.
Northern Kentucky is led on offense by Ohio-native Molly Glick who puts in an average of 9.0 points per game. After Glick, the Norse are being aided with performances from two freshman point guards. Taylor Clos (8.8ppg) and Ally Niece (7.9ppg) are proving to be an integral part of the starting line up with is mainly consisted of underclassmen. The freshman duo both lead the Norse offense in assists, each adding 31 on the season.
