
Raiders seek to continue conference unbeaten streak on the road

The Wright State women's basketball team continues their three-game road trip on Friday when they travel to Youngstown State. The Raiders and Penguins will tip-off at 7:00pm in the Beeghly Center.

The Penguins currently stand at the top of the Horizon League defensive standings allowing only 54.9 points against per game, while the Raiders boast the best offense in the conference scoring an average of 71.9 per game.

Wright State
The Raiders (13-4, 5-0) return to the road after a 61-55 win against the Northern Kentucky Norse. Wright State is currently the only team in the Horizon League with a perfect conference record and are riding a five-game win streak, their last loss coming on December 18th against the Charlotte 49ers in overtime.

Michal Miller stands atop the Raiders' offense and puts in an average of 13.5 points per game and Mackenzie Taylor is not far behind with an average of 12.2 points per outing. Symone Simmons, 10.0 rebounds per game, and Tyler Frierson, 7.1 rebounds per game, are proving to be a dominant force under the basket this season. Simmons and Frierson currently stand at 3rd and 5th respectively in rebounds in the conference.

The Penguins (12-5, 4-2) are coming off of a two game slide after beginning their conference slate 4-0. In their most recent game the Penguins found themselves on the short end of a 60-42 loss to the Green Bay Phoenix. Youngstown State has had three players named as Horizon League Player of the Week this season. Senior guard Alison Smolinski, sophomore guard Chelsea Olsen, and junior forward Mary Dunn have each been tabbed as award winners this year.

Youngstown State has four players averaging double-digits on offense and are led by Alison Smolinski who sinks an average of 13.6 per game and an average of 14.0 points per game against Horizon League opponents. On defense the Penguins are led by Chelsea Olsen who is leading the team in rebounds with 8.0 per game. Olsen is also putting together an impressive stat line in steals, 22, and blocks, 16 overall.Â
