@WSU_MBB Looks to Complete Road Trip on High Note at Cleveland State

Game time is now 1:00 PM

Coming off a come-from-behind win at Youngstown State Thursday night, the Wright State men's basketball team will stay in northeast Ohio to play at Cleveland State Saturday.  Due to weather concerns, the new game time is 1:00 PM.

Wright State
The Raiders, 9-10 and 3-3, were down 45-38 at halftime but outscored the Penguins 42-29 in the second half to grab an 80-74 win at Youngstown State.  Four Raiders scored in double digits: Malachi Smith and Bill Wampler with 17 points each, Mark Hughes at 16 and Loudon Love with 15 points.  Smith also picked up career highs with his 17 points and nine rebounds as he added three assists and three steals.  The WSU bench accounted for 38 points.  Junior Cole Gentry pushed his consecutive free throw streak to 33, going 31 for 31 in league play.

Four Raiders sit in double-figure scoring for the season with Wampler on top at 14.8 per game.  Love is at 14.0 and 8.3 rebounds with Gentry at 13.7 points.  WSU will be shooting for its first winning streak in Horizon League play this year as they visit CSU.  Wright State leads the overall series 37-34 and has met the Vikings more than any other team.  The teams split the regular-season meetings with the home team winning each time.  The teams also met in Detroit for the championship game of the Horizon League Tournament last year with WSU winning 74-57 to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Cleveland State
The Vikings, 5-15 and 0-7, have dropped its last seven games, including Thursday night to Northern Kentucky 91-76 at home.  CSU was led by freshman Rasheed Williams, who scored 23 points on five threes in his first collegiate start.  Stefan Kenic finished 11 points, and Kasheem Thomas had 10 with four assists.  NKU outrebounded the Vikings 37-29, and CSU trailed 48-41 at halftime.

Tyree Appleby, who did not play against Northern Kentucky, leads the team in scoring at 17.8 per game with 96 assists through 19 games.  Kenic is second at 11.1 while Williams averages 9.9 for the season.  CSU does own an 82-64 win over Bowling Green in early December.  The Vikings were picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll with Appleby being named to the first team.  He was named to the All-Freshman Team in 2018.
