@WSU_MBB Takes Down Milwaukee

Raiders Host Green Bay Saturday Night

The Wright State men's basketball team made it three straight wins with a 56-54 decision over Milwaukee Thursday night at the WSU Nutter Center.  The Raiders are now 11-10 and 5-3 while the Panthers drop to 9-12 and 4-4.

Loudon Love picked up his eighth double-double of the season with 21 points and 12 rebounds with a block and a steal in 32 minutes.  Skyelar Potter came off the bench for 10 points and six boards while Alan Vest tossed in nine points.  Bill Wampler added six rebounds.  The score was tied 25-25 at half with the Raiders outscoring the Panthers 31-29 in the second half.  The Raider bench accounted for 14 points as the score was tied eight times throughout the night, and the lead changed four times.

First Half
The Raiders won the tip and scored quickly inside from Love, who scored WSU's first six points as Wright State led 6-5 at the first media timeout.  Malachi Smith got his first two points of the night from a baseline layup as the teams went into the 12-minute break with Milwaukee up 9-8.  The Raiders stayed close as the half progressed but UWM led 19-18 with three minutes to go.  WSU finally tied it at 25 on a Cole Gentry drive with under 30 seconds remaining, but the WSU defense held on to keep it knotted.  Love led all scorers with 12 points and nine rebounds.  Five other Raiders posted two or three points each.

Second Half
The final 20 minutes started just like the first half ended with the teams exchanging baskets.  UWM took the lead early and led by four at 17:10 before the Raiders fired back to take the advantage 37-34 and did not give up the lead for the rest of the game.  WSU went up by as much as eight points, but the Panthers tied the contest  at 54 each with 2:37 remaining.  WSU would hold off the UWM attack, including a chance to tie or win it under ten seconds.  Love had nine points in the second half with Potter chipping in seven points.

Nagy Said
"I thought our guys did a great job.  Our defense and our rebounding won this game tonight despite shooting 34%.  We lost seven games like this before tonight so this is a positive.  Both freshmen gave us great minutes off the bench tonight and are giving us great depth."
