Bolstered by a late first half run and three double-figure scorers, the Wright State men's basketball team wrapped up its Florida trip with a 71-66 victory over Miami on Wednesday night to close the Gulf Coast Showcase.

Down nine with just under three minutes to go in the first half, the Raiders went on a 10-0 run to go into the locker room with a one-point lead, an advantage they held onto throughout the final 20 minutes to come away with the victory.

Grant Basile tallied his first career double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds – recording 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds in the second half as Wright State took control of the matchup. It was Basile's second career double-digit scoring game after he tallied 19 points against Urbana, while it was his first double-digit rebound night.

Jaylon Hall paced the Raiders in the first half, scoring 12 of his 17 points in the opening 20 minutes while adding seven rebounds and three assists. Hall also finished the night strong from the free throw line, hitting 10-of-13 from the stripe, including four straight in the game's final 19 seconds to close the night. Hall's 17 points matched a career-best from nearly two years ago when he dropped 17 against Ohio Valley (Dec. 5, 2017).

Bill Wampler was the final Raider in double figures, finishing with 14 points – 10 of which came in the second half. Â
Cole Gentry added nine points, while
Tanner Holden finished with eight points and six rebounds of his own.

The second half was a defensive battle, as the teams combined for just five points over a nearly five-minute stretch from the 9:04 mark through the 4:19 mark. After Miami cut the Raider lead to two with 23 seconds remaining, the smallest margin of the second half, Hall came up clutch with his four consecutive free throw makes to close the night.

As a team, Wright State shot 42 percent (24-for-57) from the floor overall and hit five three-pointers while holding Miami to 36 percent shooting (24-for-67). Miami hit seven three-pointers, but the Raiders defense held the RedHawks to just 1-for-10 three-point shooting in the final 20 minutes.

Outrebounded by 12 in the first half, Wright State battled back on the glass and finished the night with a 30-29 advantage on the defensive boards, while Miami had a four rebound advantage overall (43-39). The Raiders also finished with a 26-22 advantage on points in the paint.

Nike Sibande finished with a game-high 20 points for Miami, while Bam Bowman had 12 points as the only RedHawks in double figures. Bowman also added 10 rebounds, but was held to just two points and two rebounds over the final 20 minutes.
