Raiders close regular season with win

The Wright State men's soccer team tallied five goals in their final match of the 2019 regular season, to secure a 6-1 road victory at IUPUI on Friday night. The Raiders finished regular season play at 8-8-2 overall and 4-4-0 in conference, while IUPUI falls to 4-10-3 overall and 2-4-1 in the Horizon.

Jackson Dietrich started the scoring efforts for the Raiders with his 17' goal. Just five minutes later, Dietrich turned helper as he provided the assist on Deri Corfe's 22' goal. Ids Hannema connected with Corfe for his second goal of the evening in the 30'. IUPUI's Tommy Patacca put the host on the scoreboard in the 43' finding the top corner of the goal. An own goal, in the 49' by IUPUI started things off in the second half before Dietrich connected on his second goal of the contest in 50'. Less than a minute later, Corfe recorded his first career hat-trick in the 51' and ultimately securing the road victory.

Friday night's victory over IUPUI secured the Raiders a spot in the Horizon League Men's Soccer Championship. Full bracket and details will be announced later Friday evening.

  • Wright State outshot IUPUI 27 to 11 and finished the contest with 14 shots on goal to their two.
  • Senior Midfielder Deri Corfe had more shots (10) than any other player for either team during Friday's contest. Corfe played 58 minutes and recording six of the Raiders 14 shots on goal.
  • Senior Midfielder Jackson Dietrich recorded his first career multi-goal game (2) against the Jaguars Friday night. Dietrich recorded two goals, provided one assist. He also recorded five total shots (three on goal).
