The Wright State men's basketball team makes the short trip up I-75 to take on Toledo on Saturday afternoon as the Raiders wrap up non-conference play and get set for Horizon League action following the holidays. The Raiders are 9-3 and coming off of a four-game homestand that saw them win three of four games, while the Rockets are 8-3 overall and coming off a loss Tuesday night. Wright State is 4-1 away from home this season (2-0 in true road games) and Toledo is 5-0 at home to date.

Wright State saw 10 different Raiders find the scoring column in a 92-50 victory over Mississippi Valley State Tuesday night to close out a four-game homestand inside the Nutter Center.
Tuesday night, the Raiders had three players in double-figures at the half, as four players ended the night with double-digit scoring games.
Tanner Holden and
James Manns each finished with a game-high 19 points and each had eight rebounds, as Holden was 8-of-10 from the floor and Manns hit 7-of-13 shots, including a trio of three-pointers.

Cole Gentry and
Jordan Ash both tallied 11 points, while
Bill Wampler notched nine points.
Trey Calvin finished with eight points off the bench, while
Grant Basile scored six points to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds.
TALKIN' TOLEDO
Saturday will be the 14th all-time meeting between Wright State and Toledo, with the Raiders holding a 7-6 advantage after an 84-74 home victory over the Rockets last season inside the Nutter Center. Wright State has won four of the last five in the series overall, dating back to the 2008-09 season.Â
The series began on Dec. 7, 1985, a 67-66 Raider win at Toledo. Eight of the previous 17 matchups have seen the final margins at 10 or less points, while two additional finals were within 15 points. Saturday marks just the second time in the series that the teams have met in three consecutive seasons, with the other time coming during the 2002-03, 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons as Toledo won two of three.Â

Toledo is coming off of a 72-57 loss Tuesday at Kansas City, but had won five in a row prior to the setback. The Rockets are 3-0 against Horizon League teams this season (vs. Oakland, at Cleveland State, at Detroit Mercy).Â
Marreon Jackson leads Toledo offensively, averaging 16.9 points per game, followed by Luke Knapke's 16.8 points per game. Spencer Littleson is averaging 13.1 points per game, while Willie Jackson is averaging a double-double with 10.5 points per game and 12.9 rebounds per game, a total that ranks third in the nation. He also is tied for fifth nationally with seven double-doubles.
Willie Jackson leads the MAC and ranks third nationally with 12.9 rebounds per game (3rd in nation with 9.4 defensive rpg) after ranking fourth in the MAC last year with 8.9 rebounds per game. He has scored in double digits in seven of his last eight outings and led the Rockets on the boards in nine games this season, including a career-high tying 20 rebounds at Notre Dame on Nov. 21.

Saturday's matchup with Toledo will be the fourth and final meeting of the regular season that the Raiders will have with MAC opponents. Wright State is 2-1 against the MAC to date, with two wins against Miami (OH) – in Oxford (Nov. 9, 88-81) and at the Gulf Coast Showcase (Nov. 27, 71-66)  – and a one-point loss at home to Kent State (Nov. 16, 72-71).Â

Wright State sits at No. 17 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25, released on Dec. 16. The Raiders have been in the rankings all season long, climbing as high as No. 10 (Nov. 11 poll date) after opening at No. 13 in the preseason listing. This is the Raiders' first meeting against a team also in the poll, with Toledo climbing to No. 13 in this week's rankings.

Sophomore
James Manns has turned in three consecutive double-digit scoring games off the bench for the Raiders, scoring 13 points with four rebounds in 12 minutes against Indiana State before a career-best 26-point, eight rebound night against Southern in 21 minutes of action. He followed those up with a 19-point, eight rebound effort in 21 minutes against Mississippi Valley State.Â
During this stretch, Manns is shooting 58 percent from the floor overall (22-of-38) and has hit 55 percent (6-of-11) of his three-point attempts. His 19.3 points/game over the last three games leads the Raiders, while his 6.7 rebounds/game over the last three contests is second on the roster behind
Grant Basile.
