The Detroit Mercy Titans bested the Wright State Raiders (12-15) in the opening Horizon League series at WSU Softball Field. The Titans kept the Raider offense quiet while combining for 18 runs of their own including a run rule in game two.

Game 1
After recording the save for the Titans on Friday, Liz Murphy started in the circle and threw a complete game. Detroit Mercy tabbed Olivia Otani for two runs in the second and pushed their lead to 5-0 after the fifth inning. Wright State battled back with two runs in the sixth. Madison Hartman doubled and Lauren Deitrick singled to put runners on the corners with no outs. Raidyn Johnson entered as a pinch-hitter and singled for an RBI. Macy McCall then added another RBI as the Raiders pulled within three. Murphy recorded three big outs to get out of the jam and to keep the Titans on top. Detroit Mercy added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh to close out their second win of the series.

Game 2
Detroit Mercy jumped out to a big lead early in the second game of the Saturday doubleheader. The Titans scored three runs in the first, one in the second, and four more in the third. Wright State scored two runs of their own in the third. Rebekah Lenos and Meredith Keel took advantage of errors and got Wright State on the board. The Raiders couldn't slow down the Titans offensively, giving up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and surrendering six errors. Detroit Mercy ended the game in the fifth inning due to their 10-2 lead.

Wright State returns to WSU Softball Field on Tuesday in a doubleheader matchup against the Miami Redhawks.
