@WSU_SB Drops Doubleheader to Bowling Green

Bowling Green swept the Wright State softball team in a Tuesday doubleheader. The Raiders kept both games close until the final stages where the Falcons claimed a pair of victories, 10-4 and 4-2.  Wright State is now 20-29 overall.

Scoring Summary

Game 1

1st Inning
Wright State got off to a quick start offensively. The Raiders quickly loaded the bases with three straight singles off the bat of Brianna Hutchinson, Madison Hartman, and Raidyn Johnson. Madison Whitaker followed another single and Wright State was on the board. Madison Nunez sent a long fly ball out to left for a successful sac fly and the Raiders took a 2-0 lead.

2nd Inning
Lexie Hilling and Lauren Deitrick both made solid contact but two impressive defensive stops by Falcon infielders Sarah Gonzalez and Nikki Sorgi made two outs. Rebekah Lenos singled and stole second. Then, Brianna Hutchinson reached first on an infield single despite another strong defensive effort by Bowling Green. Lexie Hilling earned the start in the circle for the Raiders and tossed a scoreless second frame.

5th Inning
The Falcons tied the game in the third with a single, walk, and a double. In the fourth, the Raiders threatened with two base runners but couldn't plate the go-ahead run. Olivia Otani took over in the circle in the bottom of the fourth and delivered a scoreless inning. In the fifth, the Raiders took back the lead on a Madison Nunez RBI.

6th Inning
Unfortunately for the Raiders, their lead was short lived. Bowling Green used a huge seven-run inning to open up a big advantage and never looked back. The Falcons claimed a 10-4 victory in game one.

Game 2

2nd Inning
The Falcons struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on three hits. Wright State quickly answered with two runs of their own. Madison Whitaker drew a walk, Madison Nunez reached on an error, and Meredith Keel singled to load the bases with no outs. Madison Mills recorded an RBI followed by an RBI single from Brianna Hutchinson.

6th Inning
Makenna Durieux held Bowling Green scoreless until the sixth, where the Falcons claimed two runs on two hits and a pair of errors to win the game.

Wright State will travel to Cleveland State this weekend for their second-to-last series of the season.
