Wright State (15-20, 3-6) couldn't close out Northern Kentucky (11-20, 4-4) on Wednesday and dropped the series to the Norse in a closely contested extra-inning game, losing 6-5 in eight innings. Despite the loss, Rebekah Lenos impressed from the plate, posting a 3-for-4 day along with two RBI and a run.

2nd Inning
Northern Kentucky jumped out to an early lead with a single run in the first. In the second, Wright State connected for three straight hits from Madison Whitaker, Madison Hartman, and Madison Nunez to tie the game. Macy McCall beat out a throw to also single and the bases were loaded for Rebekah Lenos. Lenos slapped a double off the first base bag and two runs came in to score. Meredith Keel reached on an error to bring in the fourth run and the fifth run of the inning crossed on a Brianna Hutchinson sacrifice fly.

5th Inning
Olivia Otani worked her way through the Norse lineup with ease until Northern Kentucky tagged the freshman with two runs. The Norse added one more run on a stolen base at home and cut the Wright State lead to just one. Makenna Durieux recorded the final out of the fifth and threw a scoreless inning in the sixth.

7th Inning
Northern Kentucky manufactured the tying run in the top of the seventh and threatened with the winning run at third until Durieux shut the door with a timely groundout. In the bottom of the inning, Lenos connected for a single to left and Keel moved her to second. Brianna Hutchinson flew out to deep center and the winning run stood at third. Madison Whitaker lined a ball into right but an athletic catch by Northern Kentucky rightfielder Isabell Alexander sent the game into extras for the second time in the series.

8th Inning
The Norse took the lead for the first time since the fifth inning with a single run in the top of the first extra frame. Hailey Whitmer quickly retired the Raiders in order to claim the series for Northern Kentucky.

Wright State will have the day off on Thursday and return to action on Friday when the Raiders will begin another Horizon League series in Indianapolis against the IUPUI Jaguars (9-25, 3-1).
