Wright State was bested in game one of the series against IUPUI on Friday. The Raiders were defeated 2-5 despite outhitting the Jaguars by two in the game. Lexi Lucas tossed a complete game and picked up the win while Olivia Otani was handed the loss.


1st Inning
Lucas retired the Raiders in order and sent the IUPUI offense to bat. After two ground outs, the Jaguars loaded the bases and proceeded to plate two runs on a single and a hit batter.

4th Inning
Wright State scored their first run thanks to a leadoff Brianna Hutchinson double. Hutchinson tagged up to third on a Madison Whitaker fly out and scored on a Raidyn Johnson RBI single. IUPUI responded with a run of their own to keep their lead at two.

6th Inning
The Raiders cut the IUPUI to just a single run after scoring their second run in the top of the sixth. Rebekah Lenos, Meredith Keel, and Brianna Hutchinson all singled to begin the inning and the Hutchinson single scored Lenos. The comeback attempt was cut short when IUPUI added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the frame.

Despite the loss, Rebekah Lenos and Brianna Hutchinson both went 2 for 3 and each connected for a double and scored a run. The Raiders and Jaguars will face off on Saturday for a doubleheader to close the series.
