Jordan Ash, who will graduate from of Northwestern University this June, will transfer to Wright State and is immediately eligible to play basketball for the Raiders next fall, WSU head coach Scott Nagy announced today.
Ash, a 6-3 200-pound guard from Bolingbrook, IL, acted as the Wildcats' team captain last year, but his season was upended by an injury after 10 games and two starts. He played in 90 games in four seasons at NU as he collected his career-high 11 points with two steals against #17 Oklahoma as a junior. During his sophomore campaign, Ash helped the team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in Northwestern history.
"Jordan's passion for the game combined with his high level of maturity, and leadership is a perfect fit for the needs of our program," Coach Nagy said.
A graduate of St. Joseph High School, Ash was named to the Associated Press Class 3A first-team all-state selection and IBCA Class 3A/4A all-state second team pick as a senior while helping them to the Class 3A state championship.
Ash will join other newcomers who signed in the early period: Trey Calvin from St Viator High School (IL), Andre Harris from Charles F. Brush High School (OH) and Tanner Holden from Wheelersburg High School (OH). Wright State won the Horizon League regular season in 2019, advancing to the school's first National Invitation Tournament (NIT) with a record of 21-14, 13-5. Coach Nagy was tabbed the Horizon League Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
