Women's Basketball Learns 2019-2020 Horizon League Schedule

The Wright State women's basketball team now knows its 2019-2020 conference slate, as the Horizon League released the 2019-2020 women's basketball conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders home schedule inside the Nutter Center is highlighted by a four-game homestand in late January and three straight home games in mid-February.
Wright State opens with a pair of games on the road at Milwaukee and Green Bay to begin Horizon League play on December 28 and 30 before the Raiders return home to begin the 2020 calendar year with home matchups with Cleveland State and Youngstown State.
A three-game roadtrip with stops at UIC, IUPUI and Northern Kentucky leads the Raiders into four consecutive home games, beginning January 23 against Detroit Mercy, followed by Oakland, Green Bay and Milwaukee. After a quick two game trip to take on Youngstown State and Cleveland State in early February, the Raiders host IUPUI, UIC and Northern Kentucky to close the home slate. The regular season ends with matchups on the road against Oakland and Detroit Mercy.
The 2020 Horizon League Basketball Championships begin on March 3 with first round games at campus sites, followed by quarterfinal matchups on campuses March 5. The semifinals and championship will take place in Indianapolis at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum located at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center on March 9 and 10.
Milwaukee (Dec. 28, Milwaukee; Feb. 1, Nutter Center) Milwaukee finished 15-15 last season with a 10-8 mark in Horizon League play, with the Raiders winning each matchup by four points after a 61-57 home win and 73-69 road victory. The Raiders hold a slight 33-30 lead over Milwaukee in the overall series.
Green Bay (Dec. 30, Green Bay; Jan. 30, Nutter Center) Green Bay finished the 2018-19 season with a 22-10 overall record, including a 15-3 mark in Horizon League play. The Raiders and the Phoenix split their regular season matchups before Wright State defeated Green Bay in the Horizon League Tournament championship. The Raiders trail in the overall series 64-5 entering 2019-20.
Cleveland State (Jan. 2, Nutter Center; Feb. 2, Cleveland) Cleveland State tallied a 10-20 overall record and a 7-11 conference mark last season with Wright State winning both meetings between the two teams, including a 78-52 home victory. The Raiders narrowly lead the overall series 38-37 after the season sweep last season.
Youngstown State (Jan. 4, Nutter Center; Feb. 6, Youngstown) Youngstown State finished 22-10 overall and 13-5 in the Horizon League last season as the Penguins and Raiders split their two matchups, with each team winning at home. Wright State leads the overall series 35-26 entering the 2019-20 campaign.
UIC (Jan. 9, Chicago; Feb. 15, Nutter Center) UIC recorded a 3-26 overall record last season with a 1-17 mark in Horizon League play. The Raiders recorded wins by 33 and 26 points in the two matchups last season and now lead the overall series 35-28 with wins in 14 straight meetings.
IUPUI (Jan. 11, Indianapolis; Feb. 13, Nutter Center) IUPUI finished with a 20-12 overall record in 2018-19 and was 13-5 in Horizon League play. Wright State won both regular season matchups and eliminated IUPUI from the Horizon League Tournament semifinals. The Raiders hold a 16-3 overall series advantage entering 2019-20.
Northern Kentucky (Jan. 17, Highland Heights, KY; Feb. 20, Nutter Center) Northern Kentucky tallied an 11-18 overall record last season, with 10 of those victories coming in Horizon League play (10-8). The Riaders won both matchups against the Norse, but trail in the overall series by a 12-10 mark entering the 2019-20 campaign.
Detroit Mercy (Jan. 23, Nutter Center; Feb. 29, Detroit) Detroit Mercy finished 2018-19 with a 4-25 record and a 2-16 mark in conference play, with Wright State winning both meetings. The Raiders recorded a double-digit home win in January before a three-point road victory in February. With the two victories last season, Wright State tied the overall series 28-28 between the two teams.
Oakland (Jan. 25, Nutter Center; Feb. 27, Rochester, MI) Oakland compiled a 6-24 overall record and finished with a 3-15 mark in Horizon League play last season. Wright State won both regular season matchups and ended the Grizzlies season in the Horizon Horizon League Tournament first round. The Raiders lead the overall series 15-1 against the Grizzlies entering 2019-20.
The Raiders won a program-record 27 games last season along with the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles to advance to the second NCAA Tournament appearance in team history. Head coach Katrina Merriweather claimed Horizon League Coach of the Year honors for the second time in three seasons.
