Wright State glides past Oakland Saturday afternoon

The Wright State women's basketball added another victory to their 2019-2020 campaign on Saturday afternoon inside the Nutter Center as the Raiders defeated Oakland 85-66.

With the win, the Raiders improve to 12-8 overall (7-2 Horizon League), while Oakland falls to 8-12 overall (3-6 Horizon League). Wright State remains at home and welcomes Green Bay to the Nutter Center on Thursday evening, tipoff is scheduled for 7p.m.

Wright State outscored Oakland all four quarters of today's contest but was able to hold off a determined Grizzlies team in the fourth quarter 22-21. 31 of the Raiders 85 points came from the bench while the Grizzlies had 39 bench points. 40 point came inside the paint for Wright State this afternoon while Oakland had 30.

Angel Baker and Tyler Frierson both recorded 16 points for the Raiders. Frierson recorded her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season, pulling down a game leading 13 rebounds. Shamarre Hale added 15 points to the score line while Anisja Harris had 11, respectively. 

Wright State shot 41.6 percent for the game, while Oakland finished the contest shooting 37.5 percent. The Raiders headed to the line 21 times, converting on 15 (71.4 percent), while the Grizzlies had 16 such opportunities and converted 12 (75.0 percent). The Raiders are no strange to out rebounding a team and today was no exception. Wright State pulled down 53 rebounds to Oakland's 37. On the offensive glass, Wright State led 23-12 on the defensive side of things, the Raiders remained in control 30-25.
