
Wright State sweeps #HLWBB weekly honors

Wright State women's basketball swept the Horizon League's weekly honors as junior Tyler Frierson was named Player of the Week and redshirt freshman Shamarre Hale was named the Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
Junior Tyler Frierson recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the Raiders at home against Detroit Mercy and Oakland this week. Against Detroit Mercy, the junior pulled down 11 rebounds, eight of which were offensive, adding 17 points for the Raiders. On Saturday against Oakland, the California native pulled down a game-leading 13 rebounds, nine of which were on the offensive end, and tallied 16 points. Through two games, the junior averaged 16.5 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.
Redshirt freshman Shamarre Hale tallied a total of 25 points between the Raiders two home Horizon League matchups against Detroit Mercy and Oakland last week. Hale pulled down 20 rebounds between the two contests, with a game-leading and career-high 13 rebounds against Detroit Mercy Thursday. Through two games the redshirt freshman averaged 12.5 points per game (a career high 15 points vs. Oakland). Thursday's contest marked Hale's first career double-double in a Raiders uniform, which she earned in just 11 minutes of play.
The Raiders are 11-8 on the season and 7-2 in Horizon League action. Wright State will remain at home again this week as they welcome Green Bay to the Nutter Center on Thursday and Milwaukee Saturday afternoon.
