The Wright State women's basketball program was unable to overcome an early deficit Thursday evening inside the Nutter Center as the visiting Green Bay Phoenix handed the Raiders a 68-59 loss, snapping a three-game winning streak.
A one-point game after the first quarter, saw both team battle yet again, scoring 15 points respectively in the second quarter, as the Raiders headed into the locker room still down just one. Green Bay would outscore Wright State 36 – 28 between the final two quarters.
Wright State is now 12-9 overall and 7-3 in Horizon League play, while Green Bay improved to 12-10 overall and 7-3 in HL action as well.
Two Raiders finished in double figures scoring, led by
Angel Baker's 23 points, while
Alexis Stover finished with 14. Baker finished the contest shooting 8-for-17 from the field and 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and Stover was 5-for-14 from the field and 2-for-2 from the line.
Michal Miller added six points while
Tyler Frierson finished the contest with four points. Â
Both team finished the contest shooting under 40 perfect for the contest as Wright State finished shooting just 36.1 percent (22-for-61) while Green Bay shot just 39.9 percent (22-for-56). At the line was yet another close race as the Raiders shot 75 percent (6-8) to the Phoenix 76.2 (16-21).
The Raiders were out rebounded 40-35 by the Phoenix, while Green Bay recorded a 21-16 advantage in points off of turnovers. The Raider bench finished with 15 points to the Phoenix 0, as all of their points came from five starters.
