The Wright State men's basketball team completed a weekend sweep at Detroit Mercy Sunday afternoon, tallying an 85-72 road win to begin Horizon League play 2-0 behind a pair of 20-plus point performances from
Grant Basile and
Loudon Love.

The Raiders now return home to prepare to welcome Green Bay to the Nutter Center on December 26 and 27.

Love finished with his second double-double of the season, tallying 26 points and 13 rebounds – both game-highs – while adding six assists and three blocks. Love was 10-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-9 from the stripe. Basile, in his first start of the season, finished with 21 points of his own, along with eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks. The pair played a large role in the Raiders' 50 points scored in the paint.

Jaylon Hall and
Tanner Holden both finished with 15 points to round out the double-digit scorers, with each pulling down six rebounds as well.
Trey Calvin added six points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals, while
James Manns chipped in a pair of points with a first half bucket to round out the Raider scoring.

Sunday afternoon, the Raiders saw Basile score six of the team's first 11 points while turning in 16 of his 21 points in the first half to stake the visitors to a three-point halftime lead at 35-32. Wright State came out of the break on a 9-0 scoring run to gain a little breathing room. Both sides traded baskets over the next several minutes before Detroit Mercy used a 10-2 run of its own to tie the game at 51-all with 11 minutes remaining.

After game was once again tied, this time at 60-all with just over seven minutes remaining, Wright State closed the afternoon on a 25-12 run, including a 10-2 stretch over the final 3:09 that saw the Raiders connect on 8-of-9 free throws to seal the game.

Wright State finished the afternoon shooting 58 percent as a team (29-of-50) while holding Detroit Mercy to just 39 percent (25-of-65). The Raiders were 4-of-10 (40 percent) from three-point range and Detroit Mercy was only 7-of-24 (29 percent). After starting slow from the stripe, Wright State ended the afternoon connecting on 70 percent (23-of-33) of its free throws, while Detroit Mercy was 15-of-18 (83 percent) from the stripe.

The Raiders won the battle on the boards, 37-31, pulling down 31 of their rebounds on the defensive end of the floor. The visitors passed out 18 assists and forced 13 Detroit Mercy turnovers, using those to tally 18 points.
