Two players scored in double-figures for the Wright State women's basketball team but that wasn't enough to hold off a determined Milwaukee Panther team as the Raiders were handed a 77-67 loss inside the Nutter Center Saturday afternoon.
A seven point lead with four minutes left to play in the first quarter wouldn't be enough to hold off an aggress Panther offensive who cut the lead to just one point (24-23) heading into the second quarter. Milwaukee would continue the momentum and head into the locker room up six at halftime and carry that through the remainder of the contest as the Raiders fought back from down 12 to pull within eight points but that wouldn't be enough as the final seconds ticked off the clock.
Wright State is now 12-10 overall and 7-4 in Horizon League play, while Milwaukee improved to 8-14 overall and 5-6 in HL action as well. Â Â
Anisja Harris led the Raiders with 11 points finishing the contest shooting 4-for-6 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.
Angel Baker added 10 points for Wright State going 4-for-10 from the field and 2-for-3 from three point range.
Shamarre Hale,
Jada Roberson and
Tyler Frierson each add four points while
Jenasae Bishop,
Michal Miller and
Jalise Beck all finished with two points, respectively. Â
Wright State shot just 48.9 percent for the contest (23-for-47) while Milwaukee finished with a shooting percentage of 62.2 (23-for-37). The Panthers converted on 10 of their 17 free throws (58.8 percent) while the Raiders were just 6 for 11 (54.5 percent). 26 of the Raiders 67 points came from the bench compared to the Panthers 23.
