Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Wright State falls to IUPUI Thursday night

Two players scored in double-figures for the Wright State women's basketball but that wasn't enough to hold off a determined IUPUI Jaguars team as the Raiders were handed a 62-58 loss inside the Nutter Center Thursday evening.

Wright State is now 14-11 overall and 9-5 in Horizon League play, while IUPUI improved to 19-6 overall and 13-1 in HL play.

After Wright State led IUPUI by four at the end of the first quarter, the Jaguars would go on to outscore the Raiders 17-8 in the second quarter and head into the locker up 36-31 at halftime. The Raiders would fight back and pull within two at the end of the third quarter but that wouldn't be enough as IUPUI pulled away in the fourth quarter outscoring Wright State 15-13.

Angel Baker led the scoring efforts for the Raiders as her 22 points were a game-high. Baker finished the contest shooting 11-23 from the field and tallied two assists. Michal Miller added 11 points for the hosts finishing the night 5-12 from the field, 1-4 from three point range and pulled down five rebounds. Anisja Harris tallied seven points against the Jaguars and Tyler Frierson added six of her own, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds for Wright State.

Wright State outshot IUPUI in in the opening 10 minutes but were just 4-for-14 (23.5 percent) from the floor in the second quarter, while the Jaguars hit 31.3 percent of their shots over that stretch and were a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. The Raiders would finish the night shooting 39.1 percent (27 of 69), while the Jaguars would finish with a shooting percentage of 38.5 (20 of 52).

The Raiders outrebounded IUPUI 41-38, while the Jaguars would find the advantage at the free throw heading to the line 21 times, connecting on 18. Wright State's bench finished with 17 points to IUPUI's nine.
