Box Score Ten different Wright State women's basketball players made their mark in the scorebook today, as the Raiders defeated UIC 79-55 on Senior Day Saturday afternoon inside the Nutter Center.
Wright State is now 15-10 overall and 10-4 in Horizon League play, while UIC fell to 3-23 overall and 2-13 in HL action.
The first and third quarters would be the difference makers as Wright State outscored UIC 48-13 combined in those two periods. At the end of the first half, nine of the 12 Raiders that saw action contributed to the teams' 39 total points. The second half would be not much different but would see 10 different players contribute.
Sophomore
Angel Baker led the scoring efforts for Wright State with a game-high 15 points, finishing the contest 6-for-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range. Four other Raiders also finished in double-figures as
Michal Miller and
Shamarre Hale finished with 11 points each.
Teneshia Dixon and
Anisja Harris both finished with 10 points, respectively.
Jada Roberson added nine points for Wright State, and
Alexis Stover and
Tyler Frierson both added four.
Jalise Beck tallied three for the Raiders followed by Gabi Redden's two points.
Wright State finished the contest shooting 46.0 percent from the field (29-for-63) and 40 percent from beyond the arc (8-for-20), while UIC shot 41.2 percent from the field (21-for-51) and 35.7 percent from three-point range (5-for-14).
The Raiders went to the free throw line 26 times, connecting on 13 such opportunities (50 percent), while the Flames had just 12 such opportunities, but did tally eight points. Wright State totaled 40 points in the paint during the contest while scoring 24 points off turnovers.
Wright State recorded an advantage on the glass, out rebounding UIC 49-32, but the Flames fought on the defensive side of things tallying 25 rebounds to the Raiders' 27. Meanwhile, on the offensive side of things, Wright State pulled down 22 rebounds to the Flames' seven.
