
Raiders welcome Norse for final home contest Thursday

The Wright State women's basketball team hosts Northern Kentucky on Thursday evening inside the Nutter Center in the Raiders' final home regular season contest of the 2019-2020 season. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Wright State is 15-11 overall and 10-5 in Horizon League play coming into Thursday's matchup, while Northern Kentucky is 16-10 overall with a 10-5 mark in HL play.
The Raiders are coming off of a 79-55 victory against UIC inside the Nutter Center last Saturday afternoon, outscoring UIC 48-13 in the first and third quarters combined. At the end of the first half, nine of the 12 Raiders that saw action contributed to the teams' 39 total points. The second half would be not much different but would see 10 different players contribute.
Sophomore Angel Baker led the scoring efforts for Wright State with a game-high 15 points, finishing the contest 6-for-11 from the field and 3-for-5 from three point range. Four other Raiders also finished in double-figures as Michal Miller and Shamarre Hale finished with 11 points each. Miller finished the contest 4-for-13 from the field, 2-for-7 from three point range and 1-for-2 from the line while pulling down four rebounds and a team leading five assists. Hale was 4-for-9 from the field, 3-for-6 from the charity stripe and pulled down five rebounds for the Raiders. Teneshia Dixon and Anisja Harris both finished with 10 points, respectively. Jada Roberson added nine points for Wright State, while Alexis Stover and Tyler Frierson both added four. Jalise Beck tallied three for the Raiders followed by Gabi Redden's two points.
As a team, Wright State leads the Horizon League in offensive rebounds per game (17.5 pg) and is second nationally behind Troy, who is averaging 22.9 rebounds per game. The Raiders have tallied 1,122 total rebounds which leads the Horizon League and ranks them fifth in the nation, respectively.
Notably, Thursday's contest has the possibility of deciding the second seed in the Horizon League, which guarantees a two-round bye.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Northern Kentucky has won three straight games, including snapping IUPUI's 13-game winning streak on Saturday, and is now tied with Wright State for second in the standings.
Since entering Horizon League play, the Norse find themselves among the top of the league in several statistical categories, ranking in the top-four in scoring defense (56.9 ppg), scoring margin (+8.5), rebounding margin (+5.9), turnover margin (+1.71), free-throw percentage (73.3 percent) and blocked shots per game (3.3).
Camryn Whitaker is in her fourth season at the helm of the Northern Kentucky women's basketball program. Whitaker has been a part of four consecutive coaching staffs that have made NCAA Tournament appearances, including trips to the Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen.
