
Raiders take on Oakland Thursday

The Wright State women's basketball teams hits the road for its final two road contests of the season this week, beginning Thursday night when the Raiders face off against Oakland. Tipoff is schedule for 7 p.m. in Rochester, MI.

Wright State is 16-11 overall and 11-5 in Horizon League play coming into Thursday's matchup, while Oakland is 11-16 overall with a 6-10 mark in HL play.
The Raiders are coming off of a 79-69 victory over Northern Kentucky last Thursday night, completing their regular season sweep of NKU. Sophomore Angel Baker had a career-best at home, scoring 29 points, finishing the contest shooting 5-for-7 from three point range and 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Michal Miller finished with 16 points shooting 5-for-10 from the field and 5-for-6 from the line. Shamarre Hale and Alexis Stover each chipped in eleven points for the Raiders.
Baker is currently second in the Horizon League with her 17.5 points per game scoring average, while she leads the league averaging 34.6 minutes per game. Junior Tyler Frierson is second in the HL in rebounding, averaging 8.8 per game and is also second in the conference with 221 total rebounds, behind only the HL's preseason Player of the Year nominee Macee Williams (IUPUI) in both categories.
As a team, Wright State leads the Horizon League in blocked shots per game average (3.8) and is second in the conference in total blocks (103), two behind the Horizon League leader. The Raiders are also leading the conference in total rebounds (1,165) and rebounds per game (43.15) – marks that rank them 13th most in the NCAA, in both categories. Wright State also leads the conference in offensive rebounds per game (16.7), a mark that ranks them 3rd nationally.

- Oakland is second in the Horizon League in free throw percentage (75.1) which also ranks 39th nationally. Jalisha Terry also ranks second in the league (83.9) and ranks 45th nationally while Dean ranks sixth (79.2). Oakland went 30-for-34 against Green Bay (1/9) marking the first time the team made 30-plus free throws since posting 36 against Chicago State 21 years to the date on Jan. 9, 1999.
- Chloe Guingrich posted her third double-double of the season scoring a career-high 23 points off the bench on 10-of-13 shooting with 10 rebounds helping Oakland to a 86-73 road win at Youngstown State snapping a four-game skid. Alona Blackwell and Kahlaijah Dean each had 13 points while Breanne Beatty and Brianna Breedy added 11 and 10 points respectively.
- Jeff Tungate is in his seventh season at the helm of the Oakland women's basketball program. Tungate spent the previous six seasons as the associate head coach for the men's basketball program. In 2014, Tungate received the inaugural Oakland Athletics Coach of the Year award.
