Wright State defeats Oakland on the road Thursday

The Wright State women's basketball team got four double-figure scorers on Thursday night, as they recorded a 77-60 victory over Oakland on the road.

With the win, Wright State improved to 17-11 overall and 12-5 in Horizon League play, completing their regular season sweep of Oakland. With one regular season contest left, the Raiders are currently tied with Green Bay for second place in the Horizon League standings. The top two seeds will receive a double-bye to Indianapolis and the semifinals of the Horizon League Championship.  

The Raiders outscored the Golden Grizzlies 16-9 in the first quarter but the hosts went on to outscore Wright State 17-14 at the end of the second quarter and head into the locker room down just four at halftime. The second half was the difference maker for the Raiders, as they went on to outscore Oakland 47-34 over the final two periods.

Nine different Raiders made their mark on the scorebook, led by sophomore Angel Baker's 20 points, who finished the contest shooting 10-for-18 from the field while recording a team leading five assists and five steals. Michal Miller tallied 16 points for Wright State recording a perfect 3-for-3 outing at the free throw line. Jada Roberson tallied 12 points for the Raiders, while Shamarre Hale added 11 points of her own.

Wright State finished the contest shooting 47.8 percent from the field (32-for-67) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (10-for-15), while Oakland shot 33.8 percent from the field (22-for-65) and just 27.3 percent from three point range (6-for-22).

The Raiders totaled 38 points in the paint during the contest while outscoring the Golden Grizzlies 21-12 on second chance points.

Thursday's outing marked the sixth consecutive contest that Wright State has won the battle on the glass, as the Raiders out rebounded Oakland 49-34 with 31 of those coming on the defensive side of things.
