The Wright State women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 13-5 Horizon League record (18-11 overall) after a Saturday afternoon win over Detroit Mercy to finish in a tie for second place in the final standings with Green Bay.
Based off tiebreakers, the Raiders will be the No. 3 seed for the 2020 Horizon League Championship and will host a first-round matchup on Tuesday night against 10th seeded UIC. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the Nutter Center and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The rest of Tuesday's first-round action includes No. 4 seed NKU taking on No. 9 seed Detroit Mercy, No. 6 seed Cleveland State hosting No. 7 seed Youngstown State and No. 8 seed Oakland traveling to No. 5 seed Milwaukee.
With a win on Tuesday, the Raiders would host the lowest remaining seed on Thursday, March 5 (7 p.m., Nutter Center) for a chance to join top seeds IUPUI and Green Bay in Indianapolis for the semifinals on March 9.
Wright State swept the season series against the Flames this season to run the winning streak to 16 consecutive wins over UIC dating back to the 2013-14 season. The Raiders have swept the season series in each of the last seven seasons and have also defeated the Flames in Horizon League tournament action twice in that span (March 2016 HL First Round & March 2017 HL Quarterfinals).
UIC enters the Horizon League Championship with a 3-26 record and a 2-16 mark in Horizon League play, having lost its last eight games to close the regular season.
