Wright State drops final contest of Scotsman Invitational

Wright State softball dropped its final game of the Scotsman Invitational, falling to Presbyterian College 11-5 on Sunday afternoon in Clinton, SC. as the Blue Hose used a 6-0 inning in the bottom of the third to take control

Presbyterian was first on the scoreboard by way of a solo home run over the right field fence followed by an RBI single to left field by Courtney White. In the bottom of the second, the Blue Hose added another run.

An RBI single to center field starting the scoring for Presbyterian in the bottom of the third inning. The same inning that would see a two-run RBI single down the left field line by Hunter Meadows and another two-run RBI single, this time to right field. Lexi Palazzo's RBI single to right center field would end the scoring for the Blue Hose. Wright State looked to answer in the top of the fourth inning, led by a Brianna Hutchinson's RBI double to left center field. Payton Baxter's RBI sac-fly tallied another Raider run followed by a Grace Gressly RBI single drove home Brianna Hutchinson.

The fifth inning would see both teams record two runs as the Raiders add two by way of a Payton Baxter two-run RBI single to left field before a two-run homerun by Presbyterian's Lath Freeman added two more for the Blue Hose. Neither team scored a run in the final two innings as both teams defenses were put to the test.

Carly Turner recorded the loss after allowing six runs off seven hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Olivia Otani also saw action in the circle, allowing five runs off six hits in 3.2 innings pitched.

Wright State returns home to prepare for the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Arizona March 5-7 where they will face five different opponents over the three day tournament.
