Wright State men's basketball senior Bill Wampler was one of four outgoing seniors selected to represent the Horizon League at the 2020 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship. The event was scheduled to take place in Atlanta during Final Four weekend, but has been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
Wampler's selection was the third Raider selection in the three years of the event, joining former Wright State standouts Grant Benzinger (2018) and Mark Hughes (2019).
Â
Wampler earned his second consecutive second team All-Horizon honor this season while averaging 15.6 points per game and shooting 43 percent from the floor overall (40 percent from three-point range). He tallied 23 double-digit scoring games this season, including a season-high 27 points against Weber State in November as he passed the 1,000-career point milestone. Wampler ended his career with 1,006 career points scored at Wright State and 1,414 career collegiate points.
Â
In the single-largest gathering of draft-eligible talent in the months leading up to the NBA Draft, the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship was scheduled to feature 128 seniors from all 32 Division I conferences vying for one of the biggest purses at any FIBA-sanctioned 3x3 event. Teams were slated to compete for $150,000, with $100,000 going to the tournament champions and an automatic berth to the USA Basketball 3x3 Open National Championship.
Â
Each conference's final roster selections were based off of the 128 players that made up the final watch list that was released earlier in the season.
