Wright State scores 11, defeats New Mexico State Friday

The Wright State softball team used a six-run bottom of the first inning to record its second consecutive victory of the ASU Invitational and seventh of the season over New Mexico State, 11-3, Friday evening in Tempe, Arizona.

New Mexico State was first on the scoreboard by way of a walk in the top of the inning before the Raiders used a six-run inning in the bottom of the first to take the lead. A Grace Gressly sac-fly drove in the first Raider run followed by a Madison Hartman single up the middle before Meredith Keel's single up the middle drove home another Wright State run. With two runners on, Lauren Deitrick's three-run homer would end in inning for the Raiders.

New Mexico State looked to answer in the top of the third led by Matalasi Faapito's single up the middle to drive in another Aggie run. Chloe Rivas' RBI sac-fly would add another run to the score board but it wouldn't be enough.
