Destyne Jackson named Horizon League Freshman of the Week

Wright State women's basketball redshirt freshman Destyne Jackson has been named the Horizon League's Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday Afternoon.

Jackson averaged 13.5 points and four rebounds for Wright State as the Raiders swept Youngstown State over the weekend. The redshirt freshman tallied a career-high 16 points on Friday afternoon going 7-for-13 from the field and 2-for-5 from beyond the arc while also pulling down two rebounds.

Saturday's contest would be much of the same for Jackson, as she scored a team-leading 11 points and pulled down six rebounds. The Lexington, KY native finished the contest 4-for-9 from the field and 3-for-6 from three point range while also tallying one assist and a steal.

The Raiders are 5-3 on the season and 5-1 in Horizon League action. Wright State will remain on the road and face off against Cleveland State, this weekend. The Raiders and Vikings tipoff at 1 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
