The Wright State women's basketball team remains on the road to start the New Year for another pair of Horizon League games against Cleveland State. The Raiders and Vikings will face off on Friday and Saturday, with both games set for 1 p.m. tipoffs.

Wright State swept the weekend series with Youngstown State on January 1 and 2. On Friday, the Raiders tallied their first win of 2021 with a hard fought 57-53 victory over the Penguins, led by
Destyne Jackson's career-high 16 points. The Raiders were first to score, but the Penguins answered shortly after. Wright State went on to outscore the Penguins 14-7 and head into the locker room up 28-23 at the half. The second half was a back and forth contest that saw the score line tied three separate times. Youngstown State went on to outscore Wright State 14-12 in the third quarter but the Raiders answered, outscoring the Penguins 17-15 in the fourth.
Saturday saw 10 different Raiders contribute to the 54-39 score line to sweep the series against Youngstown State. The Penguins took control of the contest early, outscoring Wright State 12-7 at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders went on to outscore the Penguins 11-10 in the second quarter but headed into the locker room still down, 22-18. Wright State would hold Youngstown State to just 17 points over the final 20 minutes. The fourth quarter was the deciding factor for the Raiders, who went on an 11-0 run.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Cleveland State's Mariah White scored 36 points on Friday at Purdue Fort Wayne, which is tied for the fifth highest single-game total all-time at Cleveland State and marks the highest single-game total among #HLWBB players so far this season.With the 13 steals on Saturday, CSU has now posted double-digit steals three times this season.

- The Vikings were picked to finish eighth in the #HLWBB Preseason Poll while Mariah White was picked to the Preseason First Team. White was named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year last season, after averaging a league-high 3.0 steal per game and helping Cleveland State to 10.1 steals per game as a team.

- Under head coach Chris Kielsmeier, Cleveland State finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 21-11, with a 9-9 mark in HL play.
