MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – The Wright State volleyball team ran its winning streak to seven straight on Tuesday night as the Raiders dispatched host Robert Morris in three sets on a historic night in Wright State program history. All seven wins in the Raiders' current streak have come via a three-set sweep.
On the final rally of the night's first set, Raider senior
Jenna Story recorded her sixth dig of the night to become Wright State's new all-time digs leader. Story surpassed former Raider Jessie Thornton (2014-17) for the top spot, and now has 2,094 digs and counting in her career.
Wright State (15-6, 7-2 HL) outlasted Robert Morris in the opening set, 30-28, before taking care of the Colonials 2516 and 25-14 in the final two sets of the night. The Raiders finished with 51 kills as a team, tallying a .345 team hitting percentage, while Robert Morris (9-13, 2-8 HL) cooled off after the opening set and finished with a .182 hitting percentage with 34 kills and 14 errors.
Megan Alders was the only player on either side to finish with double-digit kills, ending the night with 10, while
Sam Ott had eight kills and
Celia Powers added seven of her own.
Lainey Stephenson passed out 36 of Wright State's 43 assists, while Story ended the night with 12 digs.
Callie Martin had a match-high 14 digs for the Raiders as well.
Wright State remains on the road for a Friday night visit to take on Northern Kentucky. Friday's match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start and is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
