Important regular season finale on the horizon for Women's Soccer Wednesday night

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team closes the regular season with a Wednesday night home contest against Northern Kentucky, which is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff and is slated to be streamed on ESPN+.

The Raiders (5-9-3, 3-5-2 HL) are coming off a much-needed 2-1 victory last Saturday afternoon thanks to Michelle Rings' game winner in the final minutes of regulation. Northern Kentucky comes to Alumni Field having lost its last four matches and is 8-7-2 overall with a 6-4 mark in the Horizon League.
Heading into the last matches of the regular season on Wednesday, the Raiders currently sit seventh in the Horizon League standings with 11 points, two points back of Cleveland State and the final postseason spot.
Destiny Johnson's five goals leads the Raider offense, while Olga Massombo, Josie Krupp and Brittney Petrosky have all added three goals of their own. Petrosky has 26 shot attempts to pace the Raiders in that category, while Johnson (24) and Lauren Borchert (23) are just behind as seven total Raiders have recorded double-digit shot attempts. Borchert has a team-leading 16 attempts on frame so far this season.
Northern Kentucky has lost its last four matches and have been shutout in all four, with two coming at home and two on the road. NKU's last win came on October 7, a 6-2 victory over Fort Wayne. Sofia Wilmes leads the offense in multiple categories, including goals (5), points (12), total shots (42) and shots on goal (21). NKU keeper Mimi Stines has played in 16 matches with 15 starts and holds a 1.11 goals against average with a .746 save percentage entering the match.
