LAST TIME OUT
Wright State split a pair of matches last week on the road, falling in five sets Friday night against Milwaukee before a three set sweep on Sunday afternoon at Green Bay. Against Milwaukee, Callie Martin tallied a double-double with a team-leading 12 kills while adding 13 digs, while Celia Powers recorded a double-double over her own with 11 kills and 13 digs. KNOW THE FOES
Youngstown State is 4-11 overall and 1-3 in Horizon League play as Tuesday's match is the first of five straight on the road for the Penguins.  Youngstown State opened the season by dropping two of three in its first two tournaments of the season before three losses in Toledo's Blue & Gold Tournament. The Penguins ended non-conference play by dropping two of three, however their win over Duquesne on Sept. 17 snapped what had been a five match losing streak. Youngstown State is 1-3 in conference play with all four matches being played in Youngstown. The Penguins will play nine of their next 10 on the road before finishing the regular season with four consecutive home matches. The only home match between Oct. 3 and Nov. 5 is on Oct. 19 against Northern Kentucky.
Paula Gursching was named Horizon League Player of the Week on Sept. 22 following a performance against Duquesne that caught national attention. Gursching had 13 aces, the most by a Division I player in a four-set match since 2003, and added 18 kills and 11 digs for the third triple-double in YSU history. As a team, the Penguins had 24 aces against Duquesne, which is five more than any other Division I team has had in a match this season.
Youngstown State was 3-11 overall in spring 2021, with all matches coming in HL play. Wright State's meetings with Youngstown State were canceled this spring, but the Raiders won both matches back in 2019.
NUMBERS WATCH
Entering the week's action, Wright State has three players approching statistical milestone numbers.
