KNOW THE FOES
IUPUI is 2-15 on the season and has lost its last 12 entering Friday's match, while the Jaguars are 0-6 in Horizon League play to date. IUPUI tallied its first victory back on August 28 over Bellarmine as part of a 1-2 weekend at the Eastern Illinois Invitational, and then added a second win on September 4 in a five-set victory over Western Illinois as part of the Jaguars home tournament. The IUPUI offense has shown promise of late, hitting nearly .200 in each of its last three contests, all on the road. The Jaguars dropped a five-set thriller at Cleveland State on a night in which they hit .188 and followed by hitting .172 at Robert Morris. The road trip ended with a four-set loss at Youngstown State in which IUPUI connected on .173 attacking. IUPUI finished spring 2021 with an 0-12 overall record, all in Horizon League play. The Raiders swept both meetings this spring and have won four in a row in the series overall.
Purdue Fort Wayne is 4-5 entering the weekend, with a 2-4 Horizon League mark entering its Friday meeting with Northern Kentucky and Saturday matchup with the Raiders. The Mastodons are riding a two match winning streak, downing Robert Morris and Youngstown State last weekend on the road. Prior to the two wins, Fort Wayne had lost nine in a row. Katie Crowe has led the Mastodons in kills in all but two matches this season. She has 257 kills, 71 more than the next player on the team: Maggie Castleman. The only matches where Crowe did not lead the team, at No. 9 Purdue and at Robert Morris, Castleman led the team. Fort Wayne finished with a 10-7 overall record, all in League play, in spring 2021 in its first season in the Horizon. Wright State won the lone meeting, a three-set sweep inside McLin, in the Horizon League semifinal.
