Raiders grab third straight sweep with Friday night win over IUPUI

DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team made quick work of visiting IUPUI, dispatching the Jaguars in just over an hour with a three-set sweep inside McLin Gymnasium.

The Raiders (11-6, 3-2 HL) tallied a 25-14 opening set win before closing the night with set wins of 25-9 and 25-11 over IUPUI (2-16, 0-7 HL). Wright State finished the sweep hitting .319 as a team, while the Jaguars were held to a -0.117 hitting percentage.

The win was Wright State's third straight victory, all coming as three-set sweeps.

Celia Powers finished with a match-high 12 kills as the lone player on either side to reach double-digit kills, while also adding all three of Wright State's service aces. Callie Martin added eight kills of her own and Sam Ott had seven as eight different Raiders recorded kills in the win. Lainey Stephenson passed out 19 assists over the first two sets before Katie Meyer had 13 assists in the final set. Jenna Story finished the night with 18 digs as she inches closer to the Wright State program digs record, with Ellee Ruskaup collecting 12 digs of her own.

In the opening set, Wright State used a pair of three-point runs to take control of the set before a 6-1 stretch at the midpoint before closing out the set by tallying five of the final seven points of the opener. The second set was much of the same, with the Raiders jumping out to a 5-1 advantage, and later a 10-3 lead, before cruising to the second set. Wright State closed the night with a 6-1 start in the third set before ending things with eight of the final 10 points.

The Raiders remain at home on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Purdue Fort Wayne to town for a 4 p.m. start. Tomorrow's match is slated to be on ESPN+.
