Volleyball set for final regular season weekend

DAYTON -Â The Wright State volleyball team closes the regular season on the road this weekend, first visiting Oakland on Friday night before a Saturday afternoon matchup at Cleveland State. The Raiders and Oakland will get underway on Friday night at 6 p.m. before a 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon match in Cleveland.
Fans can follow the action via live stats for both matches, while the Friday match at Oakland will also be on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State won a pair of matches on the road last weekend, sweeping Fort Wayne before a four-set win at IUPUI. Nyssa Baker led the way Friday with a match-high 14 kills, while Callie Martin had a double-double with 13 kills and 17 digs. Megan Alders turned in eight of her nine kills in the first two sets, along with eight kills from Sam Ott. Alders finished with a team-leading 12 kills against IUPUI, while Ott had 10 kills and added eight digs and Baker finished with 10 kills of her own. Alders and Baker each finished with five blocks, while Grace Hauck added three blocks defensively.
KNOW THE FOES
Oakland is 15-12 overall and 9-7 in Horizon League play to date, but has dropped its last three matches. The Golden Grizzlies have been much better at home this season, with an 8-1 record there compared to a combined 7-11 mark in neutral and road matches. Lindsay Wightman sits second in the HL and top-10 nationally in total digs (481, 6th) and digs per set (5.34, 10th). Senior Jessica Riedl ranks second in the conference in blocks per set (1.04) and total blocks (95)
Cleveland State is 8-19 overall with a 6-10 Horizon League record, entering the weekend having lost its last four matches. The Vikings have played just seven home matches going into the final weekend of the regular season, with a 4-3 mark at home, the same number of wins as their combined 4-16 mark in road and neutral matches. Peyton Bloomer leads Cleveland State with 222 total kills and a 2.61 kills/set average, while  London Portis is on the verge of 200 kills, starting the weekend at 198 for the season.
TOURNEY TIME
Wright State clinched a berth to the Horizon League Championship for the fourth straight season, and will be one of the League's top-six seeded schools competing in the tournament November 19-21. The Horizon League Championship will be hosted by the regular season champion, which is still up for grabs entering this final weekend of the regular season. Milwaukee begins the weekend as the top team with a 14-2 HL record, while Northern Kentucky is currently second at 15-2 in League play, followed by the Raiders at 14-3 in HL action.
