
Women's Basketball travels to Toledo for Saturday showdown

DAYTON - The Wright State women's basketball team continues its four-game road trip to begin the 2021-22 campaign on Saturday afternoon, as the Raiders make the short trip north to take on Toledo. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m., and fans can follow the action via live stats or watch on ESPN3.
Looking ahead, Wright State will take the floor at the Nutter Center for the first time this season on November 24 against Xavier.

Wright State saw three players turn in double-digit scoring nights in the season opener, but it was not enough as the Raiders fell at Bradley 84-65 on Saturday night. Wright State, which did not return a player on the roster who averaged double-digits last season, saw Channing Chappell lead the way with 18 points, including five three-pointers, while Destyne Jackson and Jada Roberson each tallied 14 points for the Raiders. Chappell and Jackson each scored 10 points in the first half, while Roberson did the bulk of her scoring in the second half, tallying 10 of her 14 total points over the final 20 minutes with the aid of an eight-point third quarter.

Toledo is coming off of a 12-12 record with an 8-12 conference mark in in the MAC last season. The teams were scheduled to open last season against each other, but the game was canceled due to COVID protocols. Wright State trails in the series 3-7, with the last two meetings coming in the WNIT in 2015 and 2018.
Toledo opened the year with a 12-point road victory at Horizon League foe Oakland on Tuesday, with Quinesha Lockett finishing with 23 points and a career-high 12 rebounds, while Jessica Cook also tallied a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Toledo saw three other players finish in double figures scoring in the win as well.
LIFE ON THE ROAD (TRIP)
Wright State opens the season with its first four contests - including an early pair of Horizon League games - on the road, a stretch that extends to five of its first six contests overall. The four-game trip to begin the year will be the longest road trip of the season for the Raiders.
