Women's Soccer set to face HL Newcomer Robert Morris

The Wright State women's soccer team remains on the road, as they prepare to face off against one of the newest Horizon League members, Robert Morris on Thursday for a 10 a.m. matchup*.
*The match was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Wright State – Despite a hard-fought effort, the Raiders came up short on the road against IUPUI last Wednesday. An own goal by Wright State started what would become a goal-heavy first half, in the 8th minute giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. Michelle Rings tied the contest at 1-all in the 20th minute after converting on a penalty kick, snapping a 310-minute Jaguar streak of not conceding a goal. Three minutes later Lauren Borchert put the Raiders up 2-1 as she connected on a pass from Olga Massombo. IUPUI tallied their second goal of the contest just seven minutes later, tying the contest 2-all before the break. Following halftime, IUPUI's Valentine Pursey scored what would be the only goal of the second half and the game-winner for the Jaguars' in the 55th minute.
Robert Morris – The Colonials dropped a road matchup against Oakland, 5-0 Wednesday morning. RMU managed to survive an early corner from Oakland as well as a shot on target from Macy Wierenga before Kaoru Hayashi produced the first good look of the game for the Colonials, firing a strike from just outside the box following a Colonial free-kick. The Golden Grizzlies defensive formation proved challenging for the Colonials to break down as RMU was out-shot 15-5 in total as well as 8-3 in shots on goal. Hayashi led RMU with two total shots.

- Robert Morris finished its final season as a member of the Northeast Conference with an overall record of 6-10-2 and a 4-5-1 conference mark in 2019.
- The Colonials welcome back three key players from their roster in 2019, seniors Keli Rosensteel, Brittany O'Connell, and Sydent Bruckner. O'Connell is the top returning scorer from a season ago, tallied three goals for RMU while adding eight total points.
- RMU has scored nine goals so far this season, led by Kaoru Hayashi who has recorded two goals for the Colonials, while Haleigh Finale, Sheridan Reid, Gabriella Lecuona, Kayla Veloso-Lima, Ylexus Gilliland, Brittany O'Connell, and Sofie Lien Fagereng each have one apiece.
