
Alders & Dues named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

DAYTON/INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League released its 2021 Baseball All-Academic Team on Wednesday, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom. Wright State's Alex Alders and Damon Dues were among the 14 student-athletes who were honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives.

This spring, Alders has played in 44 of Wright State's 45 games entering the NCAA Regionals with a .286 batting average, 14 doubles, eight home runs and 34 RBI while stealing 18 bases in 19 attempts to date. He has appeared on four consecutive Horizon League Academic Honor Rolls, dating back to the 2019 Spring listing, and was also a member of the 2020 Horizon League Baseball All-Academic Team. Alders' work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List with Honors in Spring 2019. He graduated with his Master's degree in spring 2021.

Dues has started all 46 games for the Raiders this spring, with a .338 batting average, eight doubles, three triples, four home runs and 38 RBI while stealing 22 bases in 26 attempts to date. He has appeared on five consecutive Horizon League Academic Honor Rolls, dating back to the 2018 Fall listing, and was also a member of the 2020 Horizon League Baseball All-Academic Team. Dues' work in the classroom has earned him a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in all eight of his undergraduate semesters to date, including three semesters with Honors (Spring 2018, Spring 2019, Spring 2021) and two semesters with Highest Honors (Fall 2017, Fall 2019).

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
