DAYTON – The Wright State volleyball team dropped its opening match of the 2021 Tru by Hilton Dayton Beavercreek Invitational on Friday night, falling to Ball State in four sets.
The Raiders (2-2) grabbed a second set win, 25-20, but dropped the first set 25-21 and the final two sets 26-24 and 25-20 to end the night. Both of Wright State's Saturday matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Ball State (5-0) gets action started Saturday morning at 10 a.m. against DePaul.
Wright State returns to McLin Gymnasium on Saturday for a pair of matchups, first with a meeting against Marshall at 12:30 p.m. before closing the tournament Saturday night against DePaul at 7 p.m.
Megan Alders led the Raider offensive attack with 12 kills, while
Grace Hauck added 10 and
Celia Powers had eight kills of her own. Powers finished with a match-high five blocks as Wright State collected 10 total bocks, including four each from Hauck and
Nyssa Baker.
Lainey Stephenson passed out 40 of the Raiders' 47 assists, while four players had double-digit digs, led by
Jenna Story's match-high 28.
