Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer falls in Tennessee on Sunday afternoon

MARTIN, TN – The Wright State women's soccer team surrendered four first half goals on Sunday afternoon and was unable to recover, falling at UT Martin 4-1 to close a three-game road trip for the Raiders.

Wright State (2-2-1) now returns home to Alumni Field, where the Raiders will host Butler on Thursday night before a home meeting with Eastern Kentucky next Sunday afternoon.

Down in Tennessee, the hosts jumped on the board less than two minutes into the contest before adding another goal in the 12th minute, both from Emely van der Vliet, and a third in the 24th minute thanks to Jill Hildreth. UT Martin closed the half with what turned out to be its final goal of the afternoon, as Bella Roberts found the back of the net 61 seconds before the intermission.

The Raiders tallied their own quick goal to start the second half, as Michelle Rings found Kaylin Helinski for the score 58 seconds into the second half, but Wright State was unable to pull any closer.

UT Martin outshot the Raiders 16-5 overall, with Wright State putting just three shots on frame compared to the hosts' 10. Helinski tallied three of the Raider shot attempts, with Lauren Borchert and Rings each with one attempt. Jessika Seward collected four saves in the first half, while Erin Baker had a pair of saves in the second 45 minutes.

Wright State and Butler will kick off from Alumni Field on Thursday night with a 7 p.m. scheduled start.
