Petrosky's second half goal not enough for the Raiders Thursday night

DAYTON – The Wright State women's soccer team fell victim to three first half goals from visiting Butler on Thursday night on the way to a 3-1 defeat at Alumni Field.

The Raiders (2-3-1) saw Butler hold possession for the majority of the night, as the Bulldogs (5-1) won their fifth straight contest. Wright State now has a quick turnaround, as the Raiders reset to host Eastern Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.

Butler finished with a 23-2 shot advantage, as 13 Bulldog attempts went on frame, while Wright State managed only two attempts, both on target. The visitors got on the board early in the fourth minute of action thanks to a goal from Katie Soderstrom with a pair of assists. Butler added to the lead in the 25th minute via a score from Abigail Isger before a Raider own goal on a Butler corner attempt just before the half as the ball deflected off a Wright State defender and into the back of the net.

Brittney Petrosky put the Raiders on the scoreboard in the 65th minute, but Wright State would be unable to get any closer the rest of the night.

The Raiders finished with 11 total saves, five from Erin Baker in the first 45 minutes and six from Jessika Seward in the second half, while Butler had a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks.
