Track & Field tallies eight top-five finishes at Mastodon Invitational

The Wright State track and field program tallied eight top-five finishes on Saturday at the Mastodon Invitational hosted by Purdue Fort Wayne.Â
The Raiders claimed two out of the top-three spots in the 3,000-meter run, as Emma Shigley took second with a personal-record time of 10:21.44, followed by Shelby Nolan in third (10:26.47). Emma Johnson and Abigail Halsey finished ninth and 10th overall with times of 11:21.93 and 11:22.06.Â
In the 400-meter dash, Alycea Ruhlen placed second overall (1:06.44), while Emma Carr was third (1:10.14). Ruhlen added an eighth-place mark in the 200-meter dash (29.95).Â
Amelia Harlow and Cierra Lively tied for runner-up in the high jump, as both Raiders cleared 5'-00.23 (1.53m).Â
In the mile, Kaitlyn Miller finished third out of 17 runners with a time of 5:21.33. Nolan and Halsey were close behind in sixth and seventh place with marks of 5:24.59 and 5:26.90. Alicia Neumeier (10th // 5:50.03) and Nataly Dunes Diaz (11th // 5:53.08) rounded out WSU runners in the event.Â
Miller also raced to seventh in the 800-meter run (2:39.84), followed by Bekah Robertson in 10th with a time of 2:42.01.
Robertson turned in a fifth-place finish in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line at 9.76. To add, she led the Raiders in the long jump by clearing 15'-06.61 (4.74m), good for seventh overall. Melissa Siler finished eighth in the event with a jump of 15'-00.31 (4.58m).
Siler was at her best in the shot put, as she placed fifth with a toss of 30'-08.50 (9.36m).Â
The Raiders will return to competition at the Steemer Showcase on Saturday, January 29, in Springfield, Ohio.Â
