Nolan breaks school record at Steemer Showcase

Shelby Nolan broke her own school record in the mile run, as the Raiders tallied nine top-five finishes at the Steemer Showcase hosted by Wittenberg in Springfield, Ohio.Â
Nolan crossed the finish line at 4:55.29 in the mile, surpassing her previous record mark of 4:58.49 set last season. Abigail Halsey and Emma Shigley finished close behind Nolan at fourth and fifth overall with times of 5:03.33 and 5:09.09. Both marks were top-10 individual times in school history. Â
WSU finished one-two-three in the 1,000-meter run, led by Nolan with a winning time of 2:57.50. The graduate student was followed by Emma Shigley in second (3:03.65) and Kaitlyn Miller in third (3:05.53). Alicia Neumeier took seventh (3:11.55), while Halsey was ninth (3:13.44).Â
Amelia Harlow and Cierra Lively tied for third place in the high jump, as both Raiders cleared 1.53 meters. Bekah Robertson was seventh in the event with a best jump of 1.48 meters. Robertson also had a strong performance in the 60-meter hurdle finals, placing sixth with a time of 9.80.Â
Melissa Siler was at her best in the long jump, earning seventh out of 24 competitors by clearing 4.90 meters.
In the 400-meter dash, Emma Carr took 21st at 1:05.87. Kira Ball finished the 200-meter dash at 32.54.Â
Wright State closed the meet with a fourth-place showing in the 4x400 meter relay, as the team of Alycea Ruhlen, Neumeier, Carr, and Miller raced to a time of 4:19.34
The Raiders will continue their indoor season at the Ashland Open from February 4-5.
