Track & Field ready for Steemer Showcase

DAYTON — The Wright State track and field program will take part in the Steemer Showcase on Saturday, January 29, in Springfield, Ohio.Â
Field events will get underway at 11 a.m. before running events begin at noon. The meet will stream on Wittenberg's YouTube channel. Live results will also be provided.Â

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, the Raiders tallied eight top-five finishes at the Mastodon Invitational hosted by Purdue Fort Wayne. WSU also brought two student-athletes — Shelby Nolan and Abigail Halsey — to race in the 3,000-meter run at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.Â
>> Nolan earned runner-up out of 22 runners in the 3,000-meter run at the Gladstein Invite by posting a season-best time of 9:44.24, just five seconds shy of her school-record mark in the 3K. The following day at the Mastodon Invite, she took third in the 3K (10:26.47) and sixth in the mile (5:24.59).Â
>> Halsey placed third out of 11 competitors in the first heat of the 3,000-meter run at the Gladstein Invite. Her personal-record time of 10:16.65 was the fifth-fastest 3K by an individual in school history. The senior went on to finish seventh in the mile (5:26.90) and 10th in the 3K (11:22.06) at the Mastodon Invite.Â
>> Emma Shigley earned runner-up in the 3K at Purdue Fort Wayne, as she crossed the finish line with a PR time of 10:21.44.Â
>> The Raiders claimed two out of the top-three spots in the 400-meter dash. Alycea Ruhlen placed second overall (1:06.44), while Emma Carr was third (1:10.14).Â
>> Amelia Harlow and Cierra Lively tied for runner-up in the high jump, as both Raiders cleared 5'-00.23 (1.53m).Â
>> Kaitlyn Miller raced to third out of 17 runners in the mile with a time of 5:21.33. Miller also placed seventh in the 800-meter run (2:39.84).
>> Melissa Siler and Bekah Robertson competed in four events at the Mastodon Invite. Siler was at her best in the shot put, as she placed fifth with a toss of 30'-08.50 (9.36m). Robertson turned in a fifth-place finish in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing at 9.76.

After the Steemer Showcase, the Raiders will compete at the Ashland Open from February 4-5.
