Last weekend, Wright State dropped two games to Northern Kentucky in a home-and-home series. The Raiders trailed NKU 52-49 with 2:51 remaining in the third quarter of the series opener, but the Norse halted the late charge by closing the period on a 7-2 run and proceeding to outscore WSU 18-8 in the fourth quarter en route to a 77-59 victory. Despite facing a 55-40 third-quarter deficit to the Norse in its rematch, the Raiders rallied within one point, 80-79, following a contested layup by Channing Chappell with 12 just seconds remaining. NKU made two free throws to extend its edge to 82-79 with six seconds left, and Jada Roberson's potential game-tying 3-pointer fell short at the buzzer.
Destyne Jackson led the Raiders by averaging 17.5 points on 50-percent shooting (15-of-30) along with 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals over the two-game stretch. Jackson opened the series with a team-leading 13 points and added two rebounds and one steal. She followed up the strong outing with a career-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting. The Lexington, Ky., native also tallied two rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in the home contest. On the week, Jackson led the Raiders in points (35), field goals (15), and minutes per game (36.1).
Edecia Beck's impressive play continued, as she averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks against NKU. The transfer forward tallied her first collegiate double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks in WSU's 82-79 loss to Northern Kentucky.
