DAYTON — The Wright State women's basketball team fell 73-51 to Green Bay on Thursday night inside the Nutter Center.
The visiting Phoenix (9-5, 5-3 HL) surged to a 42-21 halftime lead, which was too much for WSU (2-15, 1-10 HL) to overcome. The Raiders were at their best in the third quarter, outscoring Green Bay 18-15. GB put the game away for good by opening the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run to extend its advantage to 68-41.
Destyne Jackson led the Raiders (2-15, 1-11 HL) with a team-leading 13 points and added four assists, two rebounds, and one steal.
Jada Roberson had an all-around game with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals, while
Edecia Beck scored eight points. Despite playing just 20 minutes due to foul trouble,
Jada Wright dominated the frontcourt with team-high marks in rebounds (10) and blocks (4).
WSU dished out 12 assists on 18 field goals, good for its third-highest total of the season.
Channing Chappell, Jackson, and Roberson were the lone Raiders to record assists, as each individual had four apiece.
Wright State's defense forced 16 turnovers, including nine by way of steal. WSU had six players record a steal, paced by Roberson with four.
Green Bay outrebounded WSU 61-39, which included 23 offensive rebounds. The Phoenix also held a slight edge in shooting by going 35-percent (27-of-77) from the field and 29% (9-of-31) from outside the arc. Meanwhile, Wright State shot 27% in field goals (18-of-66) and 3-point shooting (7-of-26).
GB had two players reach 20-plus points, as Sydney Levy led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Hailey Oskey shot 8-of-15 from the field en route to 22 points.
The Raiders will close their three-game homestand on Saturday, January 29, versus Milwaukee. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. inside the Nutter Center.
