Raiders continue homestand with Sunday noon tipoff

DAYTON -Â The Wright State men's basketball team continues its homestand on Sunday afternoon as the Raiders welcome Purdue Fort Wayne to the Nutter Center in the second contest of a four-game home stretch. Both teams are coming off Friday night loses, and fans are reminded of the updated tipoff time of 12 p.m., moved up from its originally scheduled start.Â
Fans can follow the action several ways - via live stats, by watching on ESPN+ or by tuning in on WONE 980 AM. Chris Collins and Jim Brown will have all the play-by-play on the radio and ESPN feeds.

Wright State  got off to a quick start on Friday night but could not hold off Cleveland State down the stretch, as the Raiders fell 71-67 in front of over 5,200 fans inside the Nutter Center and a national audience on ESPNU. Tanner Holden led Wright State with 24 points and a game-high eight rebounds while Trey Calvin added 21 points, six rebounds and three assists as the only two Raiders in double figures. AJ Braun tallied six first half points and added seven rebounds as Andrew Welage also chipped in six points. Basile finished with five points, all in the second half, and a game-high five steals as Tim Finke also had five points.

Four players turned in double-digit scoring nights in an 86-73 Raider win in the first meeting this season back on December 2. Tanner Holden's 22 points led the way, while AJ Braun turned in 17 points in his first collegiate start. Grant Basile's 19 points and a 14-point effort from Trey Calvin finalized the top scoring as the Raiders shot 69 percent from the floor overall and 74 percent in the first half. The December meeting was the first between Wright State and Purdue Fort Wayne since January 2, 2007 - a 72-58 home non-conference home win for the Raiders. Prior to that, the teams met in Dayton on Valentines Day 2004, with the Raiders coming away with a 66-64 victory. The last meeting in Fort Wayne was back on February 22, 2003, with the Mastodons coming away with a 84-61 win. Wright State leads the short series 10-2, with seven of the 11 matchups coming back during the 1980's. The Raiders have won all seven previous contests played in Dayton and nine of the last 10 overall.

Purdue Fort Wayne is 11-9 overall and 6-5 in the Horizon League. A Friday night loss at Northern Kentucky snapped what had been a three-game winning streak, which tied the Mastodons' longest winning stretch of the season. Since the turn of the calendar, Purdue Fort Wayne is 6-3 after a 5-6 start to the season. The Mastodons are the only team in the Horizon League to use the same starting five for every game. They rank 23rd in the nation in three-pointers per game (9.7), are 37th in the nation in steals per game (8.6) and are ninth in the nation and second in the Horizon League in team free throw shooting (78.6 percent).
